This session will provide connections between an orthopaedic injury, such as the ACL, and manifestations in the brain, which significantly involves the visual system. Members of an athlete's care team may not be aware of visual system implications following such an injury, and so this lecture hopes to bring awareness to the benefit of involving a sports vision/neuro-optometrist as part of the rehabilitation team.
This lecture will demonstrate connections between proprioception and the visual process, and will discuss the neurological and visual impacts of an anterior cruciate ligament injury, as well as risk of ACL injury following a concussion, and rehabilitation strategies incorporating the visual system.
