Dr. Erickson will provide detailed descriptions, rationale and research results to support assessment of specific vision performance skills in athletes. An overview of the instruments and programs, including recently developed digital technologies, will be highlighted. This lecture will allow attendees to understand the visual task analysis approach for development of a sport-specific visual performance evaluation as well as understand rationale and options for assessment of specific visual performance factors. Dr. Erickson will also review recent digital assessment options that provide performance comparisons to a database of athletes.

Dr. Graham Erickson is a professor at Pacific University College of Optometry. He currently teaches the Vision Therapy, Strabismus/Amblyopia and Sports Vision courses, and is the coordinator of the Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy/Rehabilitation residency at Pacific University.
Dr. Erickson is a Diplomate in Binocular Vision, Perception and Pediatric Optometry in the American Academy of Optometry and a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. He has worked with collegiate, Olympic, and professional sports athletes and teams for more than 30 years.
Dr. Erickson has authored the text Sports Vision: Vision Care for the Enhancement of Sports Performance, as well as co-authoring the text Optometric Management of Reading Dysfunction, and published chapters and articles in various professional journals. He lectures internationally on the topics of sports vision, pediatrics, and binocular vision.
